Plus - The judgement of the courts are, in most cases, mostly fair.
- The judges of the different courts in Melbourne are usually unbiased.
- Forensics are very good at discovering new evidence.
- The police try to do the best that they can within different situations.
- Lots of people in Melbourne think that the justice system in Melbourne is fair.
Minus - This justice system isn't necessarily fair; whoever has more money can get an easier sentence.
- Sometimes there could be a mistrial and you could be sentenced to something that you didn't do.
- You could also get a lesser sentence if you are liked by the judge or jury.
- Some criminals may not be sentenced to anything because there was just no evidence.
- The justice system is viewed as 'unfair' to some people.
Interesting - Men feel safe in Melbourne whilst women do not.
- Most people think the legal system in Melbourne is fair.
- People under their 30s feel that everyone does not have equal access to legal services whilst people over their 30s do.
- A court case about someone not being able to see their family because he was a drug addict was very interesting.
- A sufficient amount of people used words 'fair' or 'unfair' rather than more complex words to describe the justice system.
Three observations - Women feel that Melbourne is not safe whilst men do.
- The legal system in Melbourne is seen as fair by most people.
- More men feel that everyone in Melbourne has equal access to legal services whilst more women do not.
